THE first week of Spring has got off to a rainy start and is likely to stay patchy for a few more days yet, forecasters say.
The onshore flow from a ridge along the coast has brought light winds and rains over the past few days and will continue to do so until Sunday.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster James Thompson said the Gympie region received up to 5ml on Tuesday, and 1ml before noon on Wednesday.
He said the chance of rain will heighten towards the end of the week; with a 60% chance on Friday and 70% on Saturday with a possible thunderstorm in the afternoon.
"This sort of system is pretty common and usually takes a trough to clear it up,” Mr Thompson said.
Sunday is predicted to be mostly sunny with light winds.
