A RECENT string of thefts in a number of spots around the Gympie region has police warning residents to protect their possessions.
Gympie police Senior Sergeant Gregg Davey said the recent crimes did not point to any theft trends developing in any one area, but just a case of offenders acting on opportunity.
Unsecured homes at Jimbour Rd, The Palms, Bride St, Kilkivan and on the Wide Bay Highway at Bells Bridge, were targeted.
"This is the time to remind people to be vigilant,” Snr Sgt Davey said.
"If you're an easy target people will take you up on it.”
Thieves sheared off padlocks at a Monkland home and an Araluen construction site on the Bruce Highway and Fleming Rd in two separate instances.
A collection of items- mainly tools and cash, formed the bulk of the stolen loot and police ask residents to keep their eyes open for any of the following being sold for a quick buck.
Police believe none of the thefts are related.
