Troy Aiden Pitkin-Dionysius charged with rape, strangulation

A 21-year-old Gympie man has been remanded in custody on a total of 23 charges, including rape and strangulation.

A 21-year-old Gympie man has been committed to trial in the Gympie District Court on seven charges including rape and strangulation.

Troy Aiden Pitkin-Dionysius appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court on January 12, 2023 for a directions hearing.

Mr Pitkin-Dionysius was charged with rape, two counts of strangulation, wilful damage to a timber door and stereo, and three counts of attempting to pervert justice by interfering with the prosecution’s witness.

He did not enter a plea and there were no supporters in the courtroom. His face remained expressionless as the charges were read out.

The court heard the alleged strangulations occurred on November 18, 2021 and December 16, 2021 and the alleged rape on December 15, 2021.

Mr Pitkin-Dionysius allegedly interfered with the prosecution's witness by trying to contact the victim on January 17 and January 18, 2021.

He was committed to trial in the Gympie District Court and a date has yet to be set.

Mr Pitkin-Dionysius faces 16 additional charges, including two charges of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing utensils used for drugs, wilful damage, failing to appear in court, stealing a vehicle and drink driving.

The remaining charges are listed for mention in the Gympie Magistrates Court on August 21, 2023.
