A bitter divorce between a 38-year-old Gympie region mother and her now ex-husband has resulted in the woman fronting court, after the couple came to blows during an argument.

Tiahla Kate Crinall pleaded guilty in Gympie District Court on Thursday to one charge of common assault (domestic violence offence).

The court heard the events took place at an East Deep Creek property in February 2021, when Crinall’s now partner and her ex-husband’s boss got into a heated argument over allegations surrounding “inappropriate” driving near Crinall’s property.

Crinall and her ex had recently separated at the time and the court heard things were hostile between the two.

Her ex got involved in the argument, but the situation escalated when Crinall also joined in.

“The defendant came down from the property, she was very angry, she … punched (her ex-husband) at least three times in the head and kneed him in the groin five times,” he said.

Her ex-husband then grabbed her and fell over, pulling her down and knocking her head on some barbed wire as he went.

She cut her head on the wire as she fell.

Mr O’Hanlon-Rose said as he went to help her up, Crinall struck him once more in the head.

The situation was diffused once other people intervened.

Mr O’Hanlon-Rose said Crinall’s actions did not cause her ex-husband serious injury.
