Simon and Joanne Thomas, Michaela Martin start Sage Finance

Gympie’s business community has grown a little more as a trio of money experts invest their time and expertise into a new venture.

A trio of well-known financial experts have opened a new business in the heart of Gympie.

Simon and Joanne Thomas have been helping Gympie residents for 28 years and now, together with financial planner Michaela Martin, have launched a new enterprise: Sage Financial Planning.

Mr Thomas grew up in Gympie and is well known in many circles, being a former member of Apex and active member of the Gympie Rotary Club.

A keen pushbike and motorbike enthusiast he also loves travelling overseas and sharing the tales of his adventures.

Mrs Thomas has worked in the industry since 1994, and is also a keen fan of spending time with family and travelling.

Miss Martin is an accomplished ballroom dancer and has worked in the financial industry since 2019.

She graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2020 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Financial Planning, and is on her way to being a fully accredited financial planner.

She loves being outdoors, horse riding and four-wheel-driving at Rainbow Beach with her friends.

Miss Martin said the business had received plenty of support since opening on Monday, July 25.

She and her business partners loved getting to know different people and hearing their stories, she said.

“We could have a young couple come in, then they come in when they have children, then children get off their hands and they’re planning for their retirement,” Mrs Thomas said.

“Seeing all those different life stages, that’s rewarding.

“You really feel in touch with the community,” Miss Martin said.
