A businessman and former member of the Mormon church has been convicted of ‘aggravated’ domestic violence, and blew kisses to his victim via videolink while in a Gympie court.

A Gympie handyman who headbutted his wife, threw a fan, and threatened to cut a fence, hurt animals and slit people’s throats pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic violence on Thursday.
Nathan Troy Robinson, 43, was convicted and sentenced to nine months jail, and released immediately on parole.
Robinson runs a family handyman/ labourer business with the aggrieved, who was in the court on Tuesday and who Robinson blew kisses to through his videolink from the Gympie watchhouse.
Lawyer Chris Anderson said the headbutt occurred when Robinson was leaving the premise. He said Robinson bent down to kiss his wife goodbye as she looked up - an act of clumsiness, not violence.

“You’ve had a life that’s had its fair share of tragedies,” magistrate Bevin Hughes said.
At age eight, Robinson’s father died. Mr Anderson said that it was a very difficult time for his client
Mr Anderson told the court that by age 14, Robinson had begun “numbing” with heroin use. He had been clean of it and meth for the past two and a half years, he said.

Mr Hughes called Robinson out for “perpetuating your own suffering by making them [his family] suffer through the choices you’re making”.
“Your behaviour is a direct attack on your family unit.”
Robinson, who had served 59 days in jail, was sentenced to nine months prison with immediate parole.
