A 23-year-old inner city Brisbane man is facing multiple charges over a shocking crash that killed 41-year-old Sunshine Coast mother Cassandra Reilly days before Christmas last year.
Ms Reilly, a popular cafe worker from Reeseville, near Maleny, was travelling north on the Bruce Hwy on the night of Thursday, December 21, when her car collided head-on with another vehicle at Kanigan, about 35km north of Gympie.
The two vehicles were each extensively damaged in the crash.
Ms Reilly died at the scene.
The 23-year-old, from Herston, was taken to Gympie Hospital with serious injuries.
Police said Monday the man has been charged with multiple offences over the crash.

These include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, driving without a licence disqualified by court order as a repeat offender, and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
The man has been remanded into custody and will appear at the Maryborough Magistrates Court on July 15, 2024.
