How do juries decide a verdict?

A 51-year-old man has been found guilty of four counts of indecent dealing with a child under 12 after a three-day trial and more than 24 hours of deliberations.

Gavin Linn Molloy had been charged with six counts of the charge.

The allegations included that he exposed the young girl to a pornographic film and masturbated in front of her.

Crown prosecutor Victoria Adams told Gympie District Court in her opening statement the offences occurred on three distinct occasions in the Gympie region.

The jury returned their verdict shortly before 3pm Thursday, finding Molloy not guilty on two counts.

He was taken into custody and will be sentenced at a later date.
