Five people are facing a total of 28 charges after police searched several Gympie region properties as part of a wider dangerous drugs operation.
Officers from Gympie’s Criminal Investigation Branch and the Wide Bay Tactical Crime Squad executed the search warrants on properties at Gympie, the Southside, Jones Hill, and Curra on Wednesday January 17.
A 28-year-old Southside man was charged after police searched his Waldock St home shortly after 7.40am.
Police said in a media release Thursday, January 25, the man was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, three counts of possessing tainted property and one count each of possessing a relevant substance or things, possessing anything used in the commission of crime, contravening an order necessary to access information stored electronically, unlawful possession of weapons, possessing utensils or pipes that had been used, buying or possessing S4 or S8 medicines or hazardous poisons, and obstructing a police officer.

He is scheduled to appear at Gympie Magistrates Court on March 18, 2024.
Four other arrests were made across the region too, police said.
A 49-year-old Gympie woman has been charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, contravening an order about information necessary to access an electronic device, unlawful possession of weapons, possessing or acquiring restricted items, possessing utensils or pipes, and possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.

A 47-year-old Curra man has been charged with one count each of producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, an offence relating to possessing prohibited explosives, unlawful possession of weapon, and possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.
A 25-year-old Gympie man has been charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, and possessing utensils or pipes.
