An 18-year-old Southside labourer’s “temper” resulted in a fractured ankle when he pushed his “second mother figure” down a hill and then dented a man’s car.

Baedin William Allan Huth pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm, one of wilful damage and one count of contravening a police requirement when he faced Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard Huth was involved in an argument with his mother on August 23, 2022 when he took her car without permission.

Huth drove to a home where a woman, who was like his “second mother,” approached him while he was still in the car.

The woman “spoke to him sternly”, telling him to get out of the car and hand over the keys, police prosecutor Christie Mahoney said.

Huth grabbed the woman by the shirt, and said “shut your mouth, get the f--- out of my face,” Sergeant Mahoney said.

He then pushed the woman with “significant force”.

The push caused the woman to fall 3m downhill, where she hit her head on the concrete path and fractured her ankle.

A fingernail was also ripped off during the fall, the court heard.

On the same day, a man in the Mitsubishi Triton attended the home and Huth began shouting at him while he sat in the vehicle.

“He used both hands to slam the driver side door which caused a dent on top of the door above the handle,” Sgt Mahoney said.

Defence lawyer Jamiee Burns told the court Huth had “anger problems” and could usually recognise his “triggers” and stop himself.

Ms Burns said while it was no justification for his behaviour, Huth had told the victim to respect his boundaries and tried to deescalate himself.

He did not intend to injure the woman and was “extremely remorseful” for the incident, Ms Burn said.

Huth suffered from anxiety and depression from a young age, and had sought counselling to improve his mental health issues. He had been working in a “labourer capacity” and wanted to do a carpentry apprenticeship in future, the court heard.

Magistrate Chris Callaghan warned Huth the only two things keeping him out of jail was his young age and clean criminal history.

He was fined $200 and put on probation for 15 months. Convictions were not recorded.
