James Nash State High School staff hurt in alleged assault
The Department of Education have responded following reports police were called to an incident at a Gympie high school Thursday afternoon.

Queensland Education has confirmed a staff member was hurt in an alleged assault at James Nash State High School in Gympie Thursday afternoon.
In a statement released Friday department spokesman said the staff member suffered “non-serious injuries” as a result of allegedly being assaulted by a youth.
The youth was not a student at the school, the spokesman said.

No students were injured.
Shortly after the incident a concerned parent said the teacher had been hit in the face during the incident, which happened shortly before the last lessons for the day.
Officers were called to the Myall St school about 2.20pm after school staff contacted police.

Education Queensland did not comment on claims a knife had been brandished during the incident.
The Department of Education assures Guidance Officer support is available at the school for any students or staff who may require it.
“Like all Queensland state schools James Nash State High School holds the safety of its students and staff as its highest priority,” the spokesman said.
