A comedy musical performance of a popular children’s book is coming to the Gympie Pavilion in August.

Pete the Sheep, based off the picture book by Australian author Jackie French, is a musical comedy starring four performers from Sydney children’s theatre company Monkey Baa, and explores the challenges and rewards of individuality.

Oliver Lacey, Andrew James, Joe Kalou and Joe Dinn will portray Ms French’s quirky characters, including the dogs, sheep and shearers, with audiences set to be dazzled by toe-tapping tunes written by Phil Scott and witty storytelling by director Jonathan Biggins, both of Sydney’s Wharf Review fame.

The musical comedy will be at the Gympie Pavilion on August 20, with two separate performances at 12.30pm and 5.30pm.

The performance is also part of Gympie Regional Council’s RESET Program, supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
