Two seriously injured in head-on collision on Bruce Hwy at Bauple
Five people were taken to hospital following a head-on collision on the Bruce Hwy near Bauple on Wednesday afternoon, including a woman who had to be cut free by the jaws of life and then airlifted to the Sunshine Coast.

A woman was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the Bruce Hwy near Bauple on Wednesday cut the highway for more than an hour and left several others needing medical aid.
Multiple emergency crews including the rescue helicopter were called to the scene north of the Sheehans Rd intersection with the highway about 45km north of Gympie, about 4.05pm.
A QAS spokeswoman said a woman aged in her 40s was left trapped in the wreckage of one of the cars for some time and had to be cut free by fireys.
A man of unknown age and a baby were in the same vehicle.
The woman was freed and flown to SCUH with chest head and leg injuries, while the baby suffered “no obvious injuries”.
The man was taken to Gympie Hospital with serious abdominal injuries.
Only one of the four occupants of the other vehicle, all men in their 20s, was unharmed.
The other three suffered arm, shoulder and hip injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Police reopened the Bruce Hwy shortly after 6pm.
