NAMED: Eight drug drivers face Gympie court this week

More than $4000 in fines were handed out in Gympie Magistrates Court to eight people guilty of driving with drugs in their system.
Four women and four men pleaded guilty to driving while a drug was present in their system, with some on the receiving end of hefty fines and lengthy disqualifications.
Jade Schofield, 32, was pulled over by police on May 19, where she was found with traces of methamphetamine in her system.
The car she was driving unregistered and uninsured with number plates not belonging to the vehicle, and Schofield was also unlicensed at the time; she said she was driving to get it renewed when she was caught.
She was fined $1500, and disqualified from driving for four months.
Stefani Jane Orreal-Avery, 22, was pulled over by police while driving on Mellor St, Gympie; she was found with traces of methamphetamine in her system.
She was also the holder of a probationary license at the time.
Orreal-Avery said she was unaware any substance was in her system at the time, and had she known, would not have chosen to get behind the wheel.
She was fined $500, and disqualified from driving for four months.
Daniel Colin Higgins, 31, was pulled over by police on Butler Rd, Gympie, where he was found with traces of methamphetamine in his system.
Higgins said he had no idea how the drugs entered his system, as he does not smoke methamphetamine.
He was fined $300, and disqualified from driving for one month.
Albert Charles Marc Cronin, 40, was pulled over by police conducting patrols on Rifle Range Rd on May 3, where he was found with traces of methamphetamine and marijuana in his system.
He was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for five months.
Bradley John Dowsett, 24, was pulled over for a random breath on the Bruce Highway at Federal on April 23, where he was found with traces of marijuana in his system.
Dowsett was also on his red Ps at the time.
He was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.
Kate Jane Tobin, 31, was pulled over by police while driving on Tozer St, Gympie, on March 21 where she was found to have traces of marijuana in her system.
She was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for one month.
Zac Ryan Friske, 27, was pulled over by police while he was driving on Old Maryborough Rd, Gympie, on May 1, where he was found with traces of methamphetamine and marijuana in his system.
He was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.
Rosemarie Louise Sims, 50, was pulled over by police performing patrols on Horseshoe Bend, Gympie, on April 2, where she was found with traces of methamphetamine in her system.
Sims said she had no idea where the positive test result came from.
She was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for nine months.
