From drug dealing mums and dads to men busted in an undercover police sting, these are some Gympie regions drug peddlers who have faced court this year.

As concerns about the Gympie region’s drug problem grows with the number of people in court each week on drug charges, a select few contribute more to the issue than others by supplying dangerous drugs and peddling the destructive misery.

Here is a list of some of the regions’ drug peddlers to have faced the Gympie courts in 2021.

Southside dealer remanded in custody

Southside man Charles Anthony Thomas, 43, pleaded guilty in Gympie District Court on July 12 to dealing meth and marijuana.

Thomas was charged after he was caught by police during an operation targeting the supply of illegal drugs in March, 2021.

The court heard he was charged over two deals where he sold 0.238g and 0.49g of meth on March 23 and March 24, respectively.

Thomas’ sentencing was put on hold due to complications, and he was remanded in custody.

Kay Lorraine Menzies supplied dangerous drugs six times

Gympie region woman Kay Lorraine Menzies, 50, pleaded guilty in Gympie District Court on July 12, to a range of charges including six supplying dangerous drug charges.

Menzies had previously appeared in the court on May 6, where it heard she had dealt OxyContin, Subutex and, on four occasions, meth.

She was sentenced to two years behind bars, but was released on parole immediately.

Man fined for involvement in undercover police sting

Gympie region man John Stefan Konkol, 50, was one of two co-accused to appear in Gympie District Court on May 11, where he pleaded guilty to dealing meth, possessing a dangerous drug and utensil.

The court heard Konkol and his co-accused were the subject of an undercover police operation targeting the supply of dangerous drugs, after they dealt drugs throughout Gympie and the Sunshine Coast.

Konkol met two undercover officers, before introducing them to his co-accused who physically sold the officers meth.

He was fined $1000 for his involvement in the operation.

Undercover police sting nets Gympie drug dealer

Gympie region man Jason Troy Straun Robertson, 38, appeared alongside John Stefan Konkol in Gympie District Court on May 11, where Robertson pleaded guilty to two charges of dealing meth and one charge of possessing a thing used to carry out a crime.

The court heard Robertson and Konkol were the subject of an undercover police operation targeting the supply of dangerous drugs, after the pair dealt the drugs throughout Gympie and the Sunshine Coast.

Robertson dealt two undercover police officers $250 of meth in Gympie, and $350 of meth on the Sunshine Coast.

He was sentenced to 15 months behind bars, but was released on parole immediately and given three years probation.

Druggie mum supplied drugs, stole car and money

Gympie mother Tamika Geiger, 23, pleaded guilty in Gympie District Court on February 19 to 28 charges including 12 charges of supplying dangerous drugs.

The court heard Geiger was caught after she police seized her phone in 2020, and messages revealed 12 occasions where she had offered to supply drugs to others, including codeine and methamphetamine.

Geiger was ordered to be released on probation for two years.

Amamoor dad an ‘example of how meth destroys lives’

Amamoor father Andrew William Donney, 35, pleaded guilty to more than a dozen charges in Gympie District Court, including supplying and possessing meth.

The court heard Donney tried to supply a co-accused person with 0.2g of meth, but the deal never happened as the co-accused and the buyer were arrested by police.

He was sentenced to six months behind bars, and was eligible for parole at the end of May.

Mum pleads guilty to dealing meth

Caloundra woman Jodie Sherie Knowles pleaded guilty in the Gympie District Court on March 22 to dealing between 0.1g and 0.5g of meth to five different people over eight days between January 15 and January 22, 2020.

The court heard she made more than $500 from the deals.

Knowles had also sold a 75mg sheet of a prescription drug used to treat epilepsy for $100.

She was sentenced to 20 months behind bars with immediate parole.
