Monkland honey spill causes traffic delays

Drivers found themselves in a sticky situation after a honey truck lost its load on a busy road near Gympie.

Drivers travelling through Monkland, near Gympie, found themselves in a sticky situation, when a huge honey spill caused traffic delays along a busy main road.

Police were called to the intersection of Noosa Rd and Brisbane Rd at 11am on Monday morning, after reports a truck had broken down and 2000L of honey had spilt onto the road.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said the truck was moved off the road at 11.10am and the broken containers had been cleaned and loaded back onto the truck.

They said no one was hurt during the messy incident, but the clean up was still in progress at the time of publishing.

Police have directed traffic away from the spill and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
