Gympie’s newest hairdressing boutique is about to open in the heart of town.
Bloom Hair Studio, located on the corner of Reef St and Channon St on the edge of the Gympie CBD, is hairdresser Michaela Dodt’s first solo project after beginning her career as an apprentice at Hair Review in Mary St in late 2013.
Ms Dodt stayed with Hair Review until the end of May 2022.
“I’m stepping out of my comfort zone. It’s time to test myself and what I can do,” she said.
Ms Dodt, 25, had wanted to open her own business for some time, but her dream was put on hold during the Covid pandemic.
She said the name Bloom was inspired by the word’s definition: to grow into one’s best potential.
“It’s a place where (people) can come in and feel and look their best selves,” she said.
Throughout her nearly 10-year career, Ms Dodt’s favourite thing has been interacting with her clients and watching them transition from start to finish.
“When people walk in, they’re not always looking or feeling their best, but when they leave they’re always looking their best,” she said.
Ms Dodt will be running the show solo once the business opens in mid-July, but said she has a team of hairdressers already lined up to join the business.
