The rescue chopper has landed in the Gympie region after a serious crash north of the city, which has left a truck driver trapped in the wreckage of her vehicle.
Early reports indicate the woman is the driver of a water truck that has crashed near the intersection of Harvey Siding Road and Brady’s Road, near the southbound entrance to the final 26km stretch of the Cooroy to Curra Bruce Highway Bypass, which opened over night on Tuesday night.
At 12.30pm emergency workers were still working to free her from the cabin of the vehicle, and she will then be airlifted. At that stage it appeared her injuries were not critical.
More information as it comes to hand.
