Man suffers ‘significant’ injury in crash near Rainbow Beach, Qld

Emergency crews have been called to a serious crash west of Gympie.

A man in his 50s is being flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital after suffering a “significant” head injury when his car hit a tree outside Rainbow Beach.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash on Rainbow Beach Rd, near the Roy Webber Creek turn-off about 14km south of the tourist town, shortly after 2pm Monday.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesman said the man was taken to Gympie Hospital, with plans to transfer him south by helicopter for further treatment.
