A man in his 70s suffered multiple injuries following an abseiling incident in the Gympie region.
He had to be winched to safety by an RACQ LifeFlight rescue helicopter after falling about 10 metres down a steep cliff face at Yabba Falls on Saturday.
A RACQ LifeFlight rescue helicopter was called in to help rescue the man following the incident at 2.30pm.
The chopper winched down a Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic to help bring the man to safety.
He was first treated for multiple injuries before being stabilised and secured into a patient harness.
He was then winched safely into the helicopter.
The man was reportedly an experienced hiker and had been abseiling with a group of friends when he fell causing suspected head, chest and leg injuries.
He was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
