GEMMA and Nick Green are stretched to find a memory that doesn't have each other in it.

The happily married couple, who own Gympie's PC Place and work alongside each other daily, met as three-year-olds at nursery school in England, where they grew up.

The cute tots went through primary and secondary school together; always in the same class and always good friends.

"We'd always been close friends. We were that close we didn't want to go to the next level in case it ruined things," Gemma said.

It took a trip to the movies as 17-year-olds, holding hands in the back row under the glow of the original X-men, to make it official. After migration to Australia, marriage, two children, a new business and evacuation during five floods, the cool couple is still as much in love.

"It's what dreams are made of," Gemma said.

"The relationship's easy; we've never had to work at it.

"Because we've known each other for such a long time we can read each other very well," Nick said.

"It feels weird when we're apart; pretty sickening really," Gemma joked.

Far from nauseating, it is just natural to Nick and Gemma, who work together from 6.30am-5pm on weekdays; something many of their customers envy.

"I get asked almost daily 'How do you work with your wife?'," Nick said.

It's never easy to pinpoint the exact ingredients of a happy relationship, but Nick says humour goes a long way.

"That's what you need. Not just in a business environment, but in a relationship; you need to make each other laugh."

Self restraint when times are tough is also a maxim the couple follows.

"It's very rare we stress together or argue. We know not to get to that level," Gemma said.

While it will be a great excuse to share a bottle of wine, a meal and an old movie, Valentine's Day will be no different to any other for Gemma and Nick.

The couple will spend the morning together at work and the afternoon as a family.

"We love each other every day. We don't need a special day," Gemma said.

"But it's just fun to be silly. I'm going to make him buy me something. I've got a whole trailer load coming my way."

And with a look and a laugh between them, it's easy to see there will be many more years of memories for Gemma and Nick with each other in it.
