LOCAL internationally-acclaimed mandolinist Sue Flower will be joined by some talented musicians when she performs in Gympie on Sunday.

The Strings Attached concert - a diverse program performed on mandolin, guitar, voice, double bass and piano - promises an eclectic mix of music and styles ranging from Handel, Bach and Beethoven to George Shearing and The Doors.

Flower's good friends, mandolinist Fiona Horbach, of Sydney, and classical guitarist Werner Ruecker, of Melbourne, will be joining her on stage along with local friends Jo Tempelman, Pam Graham and Lucien Lowe.

Horbach is a member of Plektra, a Sydney-based ensemble which performs a mixture of classical and contemporary music written by renowned Australian mandolin player and composer Stephen Lalor.

Ruecker is also a teacher and conductor of the Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra.

Tempelman is the singer in the Tin Can Bay-based rock band 4580 as well as one half of the duo Encore.

Guitarist Lowe and classical pianist Graham are both well known in the Gympie area for their amazing musicianship, and have performed with Flower on many occasions including Mandolin Magic in April 2013.

Lowes Pianos and Organs that has been tuning, maintaining and selling pianos, organs and keyboards for more than 40 years, is sponsoring the concert for which it is providing an Alex Steinbach piano.

The performance starts in St Peter's Anglican Church, Lady Mary Tce Gympie on Sunday at 2pm. Entry is $12 and afternoon tea will be served after the concert.
