Keep your cool and don't cook your goose tomorrow

Llew O'Brien has backed the appointment of Kerren Smith to a $20 million federal job creation board but it hasn't stopped some unimpressed cries of "nepotism”

WIDE BAY Federal MP Llew O'Brien has backed the appointment of Gympie businessman Kerren Smith to a $20 million federal job creation board but it hasn't stopped some unimpressed cries of "nepotism” from the local community.

Is Mr Smith the best fit for that position given the job losses associated with the collapse of his business? A question some say is worth pondering.

Unlike most Queensland LNP MPs, Mr O'Brien was not at The Lodge with the PM yesterday demanding more to combat the high unemployment, crippling energy prices and infrastructure inertia in our state.

Instead, he was with Transport Minister Darren Chester discussing the final leg of the Bruce Hwy bypass of Gympie, a subject that will pique the interest of residents in that corridor.

Section D is still pretty much a twinkle in the DTMR's eye, but people who live within that corridor already have concerns. We will be talking to those residents over the weekend and bringing you that story next week. With all of this going on, not to mention Donald Trump, there are plenty of reasons to lose your cool.

Few people can do that with the elegance and eloquence of our PM. So, don't be a goose or cook your goose this weekend. It might be hot today and the hottest February day in history tomorrow, but stay cool.
