A former Gympie dentist, convicted over a series of horrific sexual and psychological assaults, has appealed his seven-year prison sentence.

In April 2021, Jebson John Pidgeon Herrod, 40, was sentenced in Brisbane District Court after he pleaded guilty to 22 offences including sexual assault, indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was given a head sentence of seven years, but will only serve two and a half years before he is eligible for parole.

In court documents obtained by the Gympie Times from October 11, 2021, Herrod had applied to appeal his head sentence.

The court heard the brutal assaults took place over 16 months between June 1, 2014 and November 25, 2015, and included Herrod pushing the victim against a car, elbowing the victim in the head and spitting on her.

But the worst attack on record was in October of 2015, where Herrod used cable ties to bind the victim’s hands over her head, before committing a sexual assault, too horrific to detail, which involved human excrement.

He repeated the gruesome action several times despite the victim asking him to stop, until she vomited.

He then left her tied up before returning with a knife to cut her free.

The court heard Herrod had attacked the victim earlier, and caused a suspected fractured cheekbone.

He will be eligible for parole in October 2023.
