A former DJ with an “attitude problem” will spend Christmas behind bars after a spate of disturbing offences.

Jake James Davies, 35, was escorted to the dock in Gympie Magistrates Court under police guard, where he pleaded guilty to 12 offences, including breaching bail and using a phone to threaten to kill.

The court heard he had used his “physical superiority” over a woman in a cluster of crimes, including one instance where he pulled her hair so hard she sustained whiplash.

He later stalked the woman, and kicked her car windshield so hard it cracked.

But the worst offence, according to Magistrate Chris Callaghan, was his threats to kill his victim.

Davies had threatened her several times using phrases such as “you’re out of time” and “you’re dead”.

His behaviour became so volatile towards the woman she was forced to delete all her social media accounts.

The offences were committed between August and September last year.

Defence lawyer Chris Anderson told the court a letter from his client reflected remorse for his actions and his embarrassment at how he handled himself.

The court heard Davies had spent 86 days in pre-sentence custody and, during that time in jail, had witnessed a stabbing and feared for his safety.

As a result he’d had a “significant” change in attitude.

Mr Callaghan however described Davies’ actions as “outrageous behaviour”.

“You’re going to spend a long, long time in jail if you don’t try and fix this behaviour,” he said.

Davies sniffled in the dock while his sentence was handed down.

He was sentenced to five months behind bars with the 86 days in pre-sentence custody declared as time served.

He will be released on parole on January 31, 2022.
