The expansion of a major Monkland industrial park continues following a four-year hiatus, with plans to build a new four shop industrial building lodged with Gympie Regional council.
Ben Stone Constructions has lodged plans to build the 1135sq m building on an empty block on Edwin Campion Drive, behind Autobarn.
The block sold at the end of October for an undisclosed price; the sale has not settled yet, according to CoreLogic’s RP data.
The stores will range from 195m sq to 345m sq in size.
Three of the stores will have the option for an added a mezzanine level in the future.
Twenty-two parking spots are included in the proposal.
Is the latest proposal earmarked for the Bunworth Industrial Park, where development had stalled from 2016-2020.
The park is already home to major retail chains including Harvey Norman, Chemist Warehouse and Lincraft.
The four-year development drought was broken by land owner David Bannister, who was given the green light to build a new industrial building opposite Harvey Norman.
Macadamia specialists CL Mac then unveiled plans to expand their operations two blocks down from its existing Monkland operations, not far from where Ben Stone Constructions wants to build its new showrooms.
CL Mac’s application is still awaiting a decision from the council.
