Inside new 30-lot subdivision plan at Woolooga

The population of a quiet Gympie region township will get a major boost if a new subdivision proposal gets the green light.

Imost Developments has lodged plans with Gympie Regional Council to open the land off Booker St, Woolooga, and establish a 30-lot subdivision.

The quiet rural community of Woolooga is in line for a population surge under plans to open a new 30-block subdivision at the southern entrance to the town.

RP Data records show the company bought the land, largely vacant except for a house and shed, for $700,000 in June 2023.

If approved, the 16ha block would be sliced into lots ranging from 3000sq m to 6200sq, plus two blocks of about 1ha.

These are all at least double the minimum block size required under the planning scheme.

If approved the estate will be opened in two stages, each offering 15 lots.

It would significantly boost the township’s population, which at the 2021 census was 310.

The developers say Booker St and nearby Jones St will need to be upgraded to handle the increase in traffic.

It is the latest in a string of subdivision proposals unveiled across the region, many of them located in the city’s growth corridor at the Southside and out towards Langshaw.

These proposals have included a 308-lot subdivision with a commercial hub between Groundwater and Lawson Rds, and a 436-lot subdivision planned to straddle Glastonbury Rd.
