A bonfire explosion, fueled by accelerant thrown on the fire, left two people burned on Saturday afternoon.

Two men in their 30s have been transported to hospital with lower leg burns, one taken via rescue helicopter, after a bonfire went wrong on a Goomboorian property.

Paramedics attended the property, 23km north west of Gympie towards Tin Can Bay, at around 5pm on Saturday afternoon.

One man was taken to Gympie Hospital with superficial leg injuries, a Queensland ambulance spokesperson said.

The other man was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Brisbane via rescue helicopter with more serious lower leg burns, they said.

Both men were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
