Hairhouse looking for staff

GYMPIE'S new Hairhouse Warehouse owners are calling on all ex-staff to come back and work for them.

GYMPIE'S new Hairhouse Warehouse owners are calling on all ex-staff to come back and work for them.

The Centro based hairdressing salon was closed this week by the old owners without a transition period to new owners Brenton Wells and Matthew Hough.

The pair was approached by Hairhouse Warehouse head office to take over the Gympie store when the management team heard of the impending closure.

Ex-Gympie resident Brenton Wells said it was supposed to be a really exciting time for him personally, returning home and settling back into the Gympie community, but things didn't quite work out as expected.

“The now former owner had agreed to a transfer of business process, which would have seen a smooth transition for the employees and clients,” Mr Wells said.

“Then, unexpectedly the store was closed on Saturday afternoon, cleared of stock, locked and abandoned.

“We have been led to believe that all of the employees of the store were told that the store was being closed down and that they were all out of a job, with no mention of the change of ownership or our desire for them to remain employed in their roles.”

Frustratingly for Mr Wells and his partner, they didn't know who the team members were and had no way of contacting them.

Currently the store remains empty, locked and in darkness.

Mr Wells is concerned the store's closure is causing distress to clients who would have had salon appointments booked and are turning up none the wiser to the situation.

An employee of Centro told them they had spoken briefly with one of the team but the team member stated they were not interested in being contacted by anyone at Hairhouse Warehouse.

“We are desperately seeking to make contact with the team and let them know that they do indeed have a job if they want one and that the store will be re-opened just as soon as we can get there, get the team back together and get the stock back on the shelves,” Mr Wells said.

“We sincerely want an opportunity to apologise to the team and to the clients of Hairhouse Warehouse for all that has happened.

“We were hoping for a smooth transition for both clients and employees.

“We can only be positive and look forward to the future.

“Knowing the community of Gympie I'm quite sure that if we can in some way make it known what has happened then the

people who we most want to

hear it will get the right information.”

Mr Wells said they hoped the community of Gympie would understand and move forward with them into the new future of Hairhouse Warehouse Gympie.

Any former Hairhouse Warehouse staff can give Mr Wells a call on 0407 140 125 or email to Brenton wells@hotmail.com if they would like their jobs back.
