Gympie’s Korner cafe has been taken over by Beauty and the Beard Eats

One of the region’s most prominently located cafes and restaurants is undergoing its second reinvention in less than a year

Popular cafe and restaurant The Korner is about to enter a new era with the site at the corner of Channon and Mary Streets undergoing a surprise change of management.

Beauty and the Beard Eats has taken over management of the shop, which has been shut since midday last Saturday.

The new owners declined to comment on what their plans for the store are at this time.

They opened The Bunker Smokehouse underneath the Korner’s outdoor restaurant in September last year.

The business changed hands in June 2020 and was rebranded from The Decks on Mary to The Korner.

This will be the second major change for the site in the past year.

Century 21 Gympie owner Billy Mitchell bought the Commercial Hotel building which was home to the cafe and restaurant (known at the time as The Decks on Mary) in June 2020. for $1.15 million.
