WHILE it feels like the chill factor has arrived in Gympie today, we are faring much better than our neighbours and five degrees above the lowest average Gympie June temperature this morning.
Maroochydore, Maryborough, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay have had crisper mornings at nine and eight degrees, a few degrees below their average June lows, while Gympie has sat snuggly at 13 degrees in comparison.
But after the mild start to winter it feels cold.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Annabelle Ford said last week's rain, which heightened over the weekend, kept the air more humid and the night temperatures warmer due to extensive cloud cover.
But a clear, dry day forecast today means the temperatures, while warmer than our usual June cold, feels cooler.
Ms Ford said Gympie can expect steady temperatures through out the week, which are more in line with the usual June weather for the region.
Top temperatures will be around 22-23 degrees and the minimum will hover around 7- 10 degrees.
There is a small chance of showers on Friday around the region as a weak trough moves through.
The weekend could be when it gets serious, with predicted minimum temperatures of five degrees on Saturday and two degrees on Saturday, which may see the first touch of frost out west, Ms Ford said.
