With over 18 years experience in the information technology industry, a Gympie man has decided to embark on a new venture and go solo.
Richard Sharwood’s new business venture, Simple Infotech, will service the whole of the Gympie region helping solve issues relating to computers, laptops and phones.
Mr Sharwood moved to Gympie 12 months ago after leaving his previous job of eight years working as the ‘IT guy’ for a group of 40 pharmacies.

Simple Infotech will be mobile and Mr Sharwood is happy to support both residents in their home and small to medium sized businesses.
Mr Sharwood said while the business has been “slow” to start with, he was confident it would pick up momentum once the word spread and he gained the trust of Gympie residents.
“IT support is so trust based so I will generally have access to a lot of really sensitive information so that is always in my mind, the amount of responsibility because that kind of information is also uninsurable,” he said.
“It’s just getting the word out there, the more people that know about it hopefully they will take the chance and experience the services I am able to provide them.”
Mr Sharwood said he thoroughly enjoyed his job and seeing his customer’s reaction when their IT issues were resolved.

“My favourite part would be the relief that people have when their issue is resolved, that’s what gives me great satisfaction,” he said.
“Sometimes when businesses have something go wrong they are not able to trade so they’re happy to be back in business and earning money again.
“It’s people's livelihood, if something doesn’t happy too quickly it could potentially affect employees.”
