A lack of new Covid exposure sites on Queensland Health’s website has not stopped Covid numbers from continuing to creep up across Gympie and the Fraser Coast.
There have now been 60 cases confirmed across the two council areas, with the new figures revealed following the announcement of 1589 new Queensland cases in the past 24 hours.
This is less than half the number recorded at Bundaberg which is grappling with an outbreak affecting multiple businesses.
The source of infection in 29 of the cases (18 at the Fraser Coast and 11 at Gympie) is still under investigation.
Despite the rising numbers no new exposure sites have been listed by Queensland Health, which has revealed its tracing efforts are being scaled back.
A Facebook post by the The Wide Bay Health and Hospital Service said on Tuesday which said this week its focus was on tracing sites of “significant risk”.
“(The public health team) are not contact tracing low risk exposures and you will not find locations on the website unless there is a high risk of general public exposure,” the service said.
The Little Parliament Cafe at Rainbow Beach has been the only Gympie region location to appear on the State Government’s tracing list.
An infectious customer visited the cafe from 3pm-3.30pm on Monday December 20.
Anyone at the cafe in that time has been identified as a casual contact
There are no Fraser Coast locations on the list at the time of publication.
