When five-year-old Jett had his beloved yellow push bike stolen, a stranger, who knew all too well the impact of theft, stepped in.

Five-year-old Gympie boy Jett Roberts was heartbroken when his bright-yellow Colorado push bike was stolen.

Luckily however, one kind-hearted not only couldn’t stand to see the little boy cry, he also knew all too well the impact of theft on a family.

Jett’s dad Ming told the Gympie Times his son left his bike near the front door of their home on Monday while they went to get groceries but when they returned, the bike was gone.

Jett, who was proud of recently learning to ride the bike without training wheels, was crushed.

Mr Roberts took to facebook to appeal for any public information on Jett’s missing bike, but in the meantime, Michael Street, who runs the Gympie Community Food Swap Pantry, offered to donate a replacement.

Mr Street said he had experience with his own children having beloved toys stolen and when he asked for the stolen toy back, was told “to F off”.

The Ming family accepted the generous offer of a replacement bike, which is also be a Colorado but this time in Jett’s favourite colour, green.

His dad said Jett was ‘over the moon’.

“With a quick lube of the chain and a new tyre, my little boy is very happy again,” he said in an update on Facebook.

He also thanked Mr Street for his generosity and encouraged everyone to support the food swap pantry on Cartwright Rd.
