The Gympie Chamber of Commerce has unveiled its new executive for 2022 in a meeting on Tuesday.
Petra van Beek was elected as the 2022 Gympie Chamber of Commerce president, taking over from Tony Goodman, who led the Chamber to unprecedented success and influence.
Mr Goodman remains involved in the Chamber as an active board member.
Scott Sutton was elected vice president, Angeline Medland was elected secretary and Sharlene Makin treasurer.
Ms van Beek, who heads consultation business Human Synergy Solutions, joined the Chamber of Commerce in late 2019, and prior to her new role worked as secretary of the Chamber.
Human Synergy Solutions works to build successful teams through leadership development and coaching, human resource management and strategy development.
SMs van Beek said she felt she had “big shoes to fill” as president, but was most looking forward to collaborating with and helping other organisations in the Gympie region.
“I need to continue Tony’s (Goodman) legacy, to find key speakers that we can bring to the region to inspire and help our businesses grow,” she said.
She added the impending mandates looming over Gympie region businesses were “uncertain times”, and said it was more important than ever that businesses help each other.
“I think the whole of the region needs to pull together under this space in order to help each other,” she said.
The new faces of the Chamber of Commerce will serve the board for the next 12 months.
