Gympie business awards return: how to nominate

Gympie businesses will again have the chance to celebrate the region’s best and brightest with the annual awards making a triumphant return following last year’s Covid-forced cancellation

Are you part of a Gympie business doing amazing things, or know of one that is?

Then now is the chance to celebrate their work as part of this year’s Gympie Business Awards to celebrate the region’s best and most innovative.

This year’s black tie dinner and dance event will mark a triumphant return for the awards, cancelled last year due to the Covid pandemic.

Chamber of Commerce President Tony Goodman said this year’s awards would be “the event of the year”.

“It’s always been a fantastic occasion, it’s a night of nights, it’s been a real gala occasion,” Mr Goodman said.

“This is an opportunity for everyone to nominate a local business that you feel stands head and shoulders above every other one, one that needs to be put on a pedestal.

Nominations are now open and can be made here.

They will stay open until Sunday July 25.

Mr Goodman said this year’s theme is “it’s your time to shine”, following the struggles many businesses faced during the pandemic.

Chamber members Brendan Allen and Tony Goodman launch this year’s awards, which will be held on Saturday October 23 at The Pavilion.

“Our judging panel consists of three independent judges, each carefully reviewing every submission in detail and awarding the businesses that stand out above the rest,” Mr Goodman said.

“The Business Awards would not be possible without our judges who all volunteer their time and expertise, or without the fantastic support from all our sponsors.”

There are 11 categories this year: the new Construction Award; Business of the Year; People’s Choice Award; Marketing Campaign of the Year; New Business of the Year; Workplace of Choice; Small Business of the Year; Not-for-Profit Business of the Year; Tourism Award; Business Innovation Award; and the Customer Service Award.

The awards are sponsored by Gympie region businesses including The Gympie Times, Century 21, Jobmatch, One Agency, Schuh Group, Slater and Gordon Lawyers, Tafe East Coast, USC, Yamba Realty and Carbon.

The awards will be held on Saturday October 23 at The Pavilion.
