A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched for the children of a Gympie mother who was tragically killed in horrific crash near Toowoomba last week.
The Greig family was travelling to a family reunion on Thursday, July 8, when the SUV they were travelling in collided with a truck on the Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road just after 10am.
Jessica Greig was killed instantly and her 12-year-old daughter Giselle died shortly after.
The father, Alex Greig, is now fighting for life and remains in a critical condition in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Two young girls and a young boy were also hospitalised.
Following the incident, a close family friend has organised a GoFundMe fundraiser which has already received over $10,000 in donations.
Carolyn Elder said the family’s loved ones are focused on helping those who survived.
“Ten-year-old Jett, who received no physical injuries, and seven-year-old Oceana, who received a broken arm and deep gash to her chin (sic),” Ms Elder said.
“These poor babies have had their whole world turned upside down and are going to need ongoing care and support.
“This is a genuinely lovely family that has been torn apart by this tragedy.”
Ms Elder said Jessica’s side of the family had come together and was providing love and care to the two surviving children.
“These children have no parents left able to care for them or provide for them and the bills keep coming in,” she said.
“Please come together as a community and help the Turnbulls not only lay their daughter and granddaughter to rest, but also help them to be able to provide for their surviving grandchildren.”
