Flood warning south to Fraser Island

A FLOOD warning has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology and further explained by Higgins Storm Chasers for the Central Queensland coastline.
What we know:
- Blackwater and areas south of Gladstone recorded high levels of rainfall with Westwood Range recording 181mm in 24 hours
- Flood warnings issued by BOM for Fitzroy catchment area including Dawson River downstream of Theodore, Don and Dee Rivers, Conners and Isaac Rivers
- Higgins Storm Chasers warn flooding could occur between Bowen and Fraser Island in the next three days, and out west at Emerald.
- Higgins forecast widespread rain in that area of 50-100mm daily and possible 300mm daily rainfall in local areas

EARLIER: THUNDER, lightning and heavy rainfall put smiles on many Central Queensland faces last night.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Blackwater Airport recorded 120.6mm.
Westwood Range, south of Gladstone, recorded an astonishing 181mm in 24 hours while Kroombit Dam (also south of Gladstone) recorded 134mm in 24 hours.
Other monitors in the area also recorded rainfall over 100mm in a 24 hour period - Mt Seaview recorded 124mm, Cedar Vale recorded 101mm, Eden 102mm and Bulburin 111mm.
Rockhampton's overnight rainfall recording was 45.2mm, with Samuel Hill recording 58.6mm and St Lawrence recording 47mm.
Gladstone also had high recordings of rainfall overnight of 81.4mm in the city and 90.2mm at the airport.
Biloela recorded 54.6mm and Moranbah recorded 25.6mm.
The forecast for today for Rockhampton includes a 90% chance of showers with the likelihood of a thunderstorm with more heavy rainfall.
