A Gympie region family has been dealt a devastating blow in the lead up to Christmas after a large portion of their rural home was gutted by a blaze.
Fireys, paramedics, and police rushed to the Garowme Rd, Tamaree residence shortly before midday Saturday following multiple triple-0 calls.
No-one was home at the time.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said multiple firefighting trucks arrived to find the single-storey weatherboard home partially ablaze.
The blaze eventually consumed 75 per cent of the property and threatened a nearby attached shed before firefighters were able to bring it under control.
Multiple crews remained at the scene continuing to damp down hot spots while police and fire investigators combed through the rubble.
