The Gympie Bypass may be expected to change the face of the region, but one long time business owner believes it will help in another surprising way too.

Everything Dogz owner Julianne Munn has unveiled plans to transform part of the 2ha Victory Heights block it has been operating from into a new doggy daycare centre.

Everything Dogz has been a mainstay in the Gympie region for 19 years.

It was originally at Barter St but relocated after the Covid pandemic in 2020.

The proposed new centre to be built on the block, pending Gympie Regional Council approval, will include grooming and retail facilities as well as a full enclosed outdoor dog run enclosure.

It is proposed to run 7.15am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm Saturday.

It will be closed Sunday.

The application, lodged by JDBA Certifiers, said the block is the “most suitable” place for the centre given its size, distance from nearby homes and the existing background noise which is “higher than other typical parcels in the rural residential zone”.

It is bordered to the east by the rail line and under-construction Gympie Bypass.

The centre will serve clients by appointment only.

The number of dogs on site will be capped, and a 1.8m timber acoustic fence will be built around the dog run enclosure.

Ms Munn declined to comment on the proposal at this time as it was still awaiting council approval.
