DINGO conservationists have accused Environment Minister Andrew Powell of breaking his promise of an independent, scientific Fraser Island dingo management review.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service figures indicate a worsening situation under the current policy, with hundreds of claimed "attacks" this year.

Members of the Save Fraser Island Dingoes group say the independence of the review has been compromised by the involvement of people closely associated with the strategy being examined.

They question the independence of Dr Lee Allen, a person acknowledged by the previous government as closely involved in the current strategy, and his son, Ben Allen, who has been employed as a "dingo expert" by review consultant, Ecosure, after collaborating on dingo issues with his father.
