Dingo review 'bias' question

ORGANISERS of the Fraser Island dingo management review have rejected claims of apparent bias and intimidatory processes.

ORGANISERS of the Fraser Island dingo management review have rejected claims of apparent bias and intimidatory processes.

Concerns about the review stem from an associated opinion survey, promoted as the public's chance to assess the State Government's dingo strategy on the island.

But survey wording makes it clear this is not the case.

Preamble to its first two questions show responses will be assessed against the strategy supposedly under review, with a direct statement that dissenting answers may reveal "key demographics that have misconceptions and should have targeted education".

Worry has also been expressed at the presence of QPWS officers at today's Maryborough public hearing, with claims this could be intimidating, including for indigenous islanders.

Concerns of bias were yesterday rejected by review contractor, Ecosure, which insisted its work would be "objective, comprehensive and effective".

Ecosure managing director Phillip Shaw yesterday backed the expertise of its review team and promised more specific responses next week, after today's public hearing.
