The future of Curra’s business community is on the open market, with a proposed 36,000sq m retail centre for sale for a cool $2.5 million.

The planned 5.7ha development on David Drive includes a grocery store, a 75-place childcare centre, several retail stores and a drive-through fast food restaurant.

It is situated at the corner of the Bruce Highway and David Drive, opposite the Puma Service Station.

Realtors Ray White Commercial said the childcare centre site could be bought separately from the rest of the project.

More than 6500 residents will be living in and around Curra in the future.

The centre was given development approval by Gympie Regional Council in 2019 and offered up for auction in April last year.

Owner Wayne Hoskin said at the time the project had been a 16-year passion for the developers but age and health issues “unfortunately prohibits our ability to see this project through to completion”.
