Crowds gather as Winter Trees on Mary returns to CBD
Hundreds of people flocked to Gympie’s heart as the iconic Mary St was flooded with people celebrating the sixth Winter Trees on Mary event, after last year’s event was cancelled due to Covid.

The cold weather did not stop crowds flooding Gympie’s CBD on Wednesday night, as hundreds gathered for the annual Winter Trees on Mary.
This is the sixth time the event, lead by the Gympie Chamber of Commerce, was held in Mary St after last years celebrations were cancelled due to Covid.
The atmosphere was electric as crowds gathered to celebrate all the region had to offer, from food stalls to live music and entertainment.
Gympie Chamber of Commerce President Tony Goodman said he expected several thousand to turn out for the event, with several attractions to draw crowds to the festively decorated street in the heart of Gympie.
The streets 44 trees were dressed by the region’s local schools, daycare centres and organisations, including St Patricks Primary, Gympie Girl Guides and Weeroona Disability Support.
Entertainment for the night also included fire twirlers, a miniature train travelling up and down Mary St and a jumping castle.
