The Gympie Eisteddfod was all about strings on day five of the competition at The Pavilion, and showcased some truly musical talented performances from primary schools and students across the region and beyond.

Six primary schools took to the stage in a show of strings in what adjudicator Alisa Jones described as “extremely musical” showing “shape and giving the music breath” for such young musicians.

She said she was happy to just “sit back and enjoy the music”.

Gympie Central took first place in the small instrumental ensemble, followed by One Mile Primary and Monkland Primary School.

Proud parents, teachers and supporters then cheered from the audience as children, eight years and younger braved the stage with their instruments together as a duet or as a solo player.

Everyone was a winner in these categories and the talent at such a young age is only set to grow and continue to contribute to the musical landscape of Gympie.

See the photos, watch the video (please note, the video is not to time, rather an expression of the nerves, excitement and dedication from all students).
