A week after being severely injured in a horror two-vehicle crash on a single-lane rural road in Gunalda, north of Gympie, Curra teen Lilly Hayes has died in hospital.

Her family and loved ones were by her bedside on Friday afternoon, and are “now grieving the loss of their daughter and sister”, Sherryn Wynne wrote in the latest update on a GoFundMe page for Lilly.

Lilly, 15, who attended James Nash State High School in Gympie, was “our sassy little Lilly” who “had the whole world ahead of her,” Ms Wynne wrote.

“Such a loving caring young lady. You helped Mia more than you will ever know. It was a pleasure having you over. Such beautiful manners,” Kirra Mills said in a Facebook comment.

The GoFundMe campaign was launched to help Lilly and her family, including her mother Meagan, who had remained “by her bedside”.

“This beautiful family aren't ones to reach out and ask for help,” Ms Wynne wrote in the post.

“They’re used to being on the other side and are always the first to offer help to those in need.”

Donations from the GoFundMe will now go “towards the celebration of her (Lilly’s) life and ongoing support for her family while they come to terms with losing Lilly.”

Lilly was one of two people flown to hospital with critical injuries after two cars, travelling in opposite directions, collided on Miva Rd at about 2.30pm Saturday, June 10.

The driver of the car Lilly was a passenger in, a 23-year-old from Belmore River, New South Wales, was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The six passengers in the second car were left “battered and bruised,” saying they were lucky to be alive.

Miva Rd is a single-lane country road about 25km north of Gympie that connects Bruce Hwy to Woolooga-Bauple Rd in the west.
