THE Widgee Thornside Country Music Muster is fast approaching and with a successful working bee on site last weekend and new major sponsor Gympie Regional Realty on board, the inaugural event is taking shape.
Run by non-profit organisation Widgee Country Music Club, club secretary Jennifer Murphy said strong community support was driving the event's progress.
Sponsors and volunteers, young and old, laboured on Saturday to prepare sites for the festival, which runs from April 26-28.
"We've had a big support from the community," Ms Murphy said.
"Everyone's been happy to help.
"All the sites are being prepared, it's nice and green and there's lots of birds and animals around.
"It's a canvas waiting to come to life."
The music muster will be at the original site of the 4KQ Webb Brothers Country Music Muster, which ran from 1982 to 1984, before it moved to the permanent site at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park.
The music festival will showcase local and national country music artists including Tania Kernaghan, Graeme Connors, and Jade Hurley and the Webb Brothers, who both performed at the original 1982 muster.
Gympie Regional Realty's John Cochrane remembers attending the original 1982 Webb Brothers Music Muster and believes in the importance of supporting community events.
"We're a self-supporting town. We all support one another and that's what keeps Gympie going," Mr Cochrane said.
"There's a lot of young talent that is going to get a boost out of it.
"We have got the Webb Brothers, they are ours, if we can get another Webb Brothers by doing it, wouldn't that be great?"
Widgee Country Music Club secretary Jennifer Murphy said having a major sponsor cemented the importance of the first-time festival.
"It shows the community has confidence in us to provide a great event."
