IF YOU were feeling like you couldn't warm up yesterday in Gympie that's because the maximum only reached 17.9 degrees around 2pm, a good few degrees below the usual for June.
Sunday's hottest temperature of 17.9 degrees was not that much warmer than the previous day's minimum of 17.3, and came at the end of a week where maximum temperatures ranged from 21 to 23.2 degrees.
Since recordings from 1965 the average maximum temperature in June in Gympie is 21.2. When you added in yesterday's arctic wind, which was blowing from the west and west north west up to 24kmh, and on the back of a very mild autumn, it was a little bit of a shock.

While it was pretty crisp it was still more than five degrees above the lowest recorded maximum in June in Gympie, which was 12.6 degrees on June 20, 2007.

But yesterday's day that never warmed up shouldn't be repeated this week, with the maximum sitting around the normal range of 21, 22 and 23 degrees for the start of the week, before increasing to 28 and 27 on Thursday and Friday.
But the flip-side is that those chilly mornings look like they will return with a frosty 6 and 5 degrees predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday, before it warms up slightly for the rest of the week with 8 to 11 degree starts to the days on the cards.
