An 35-year-old Kilkivan man has fronted court after he violently threatened a Gympie real estate agent in the wake of his eviction from a rental property.
Clinton John Bau appeared unrepresented in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday, and pleaded guilty to threatening to damage Century 21’s office on Monkland St on August 10.

He was seen at the bar table with his right arm in a sling.
Police prosecutor Melissa Campbell said Bau and his wife and mother were having a conference call with Century 21 on August 10, when he became agitated and asked by his family to leave the call.
He later showed up at the Century 21 offices and was aggressive towards staff, threatening to damage the building and harm staff.
Sgt Campbell said the agents feared for their safety and called the police, but Bau left the offices before they arrived.
“He stated words to the effect of ‘mark my words, I’ll smash all the windows in this place, I’ll bring this place to the ground, mark my words, I’ll be back’,” she said.

When police found him, Bau confirmed he had threatened staff and said he was upset and blamed staff for facing homelessness.
Bau said he and his family were kicked out of their rental property after missing two weeks of rent, and he was “fuming” about Century 21.
“I didn’t say I’ll smash your f------ head, I said I’ll bring all these walls down and I’ll punch my way out the roof and be the last one standing,” he said.

Acting Magistrate Ellis told Bau she understood he was facing homelessness, but it did not excuse his behaviour.
“People deserve to feel safe in their workplace,” she said.
He was fined $500 for the offence.
A conviction was recorded.
