IT'S not too late to pack up the rods and reels, hook up the tinny and head to Rainbow Beach for the Mitsubishi Motors' Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic.
Queensland's biggest family fishing event will be launched tomorrow night at the Rainbow Beach Sport and Recreation Club and will continue until next Saturday.
The grand opening at 4pm kicks off seven days of fishing fun.
After a talk by the Department of Fisheries and Coast Guard the night will include raffles, random cash and prize draws and plenty of entertainment.
Co-event organiser Linda Adams said people could still enter the event even after it had started and encouraged people who could only come for a couple of days to still enter.
“You don't even have to catch a fish to win the major prize,” Ms Adams said.
“Every night we draw three people and if you are present when your name is drawn you will become one of 18 people in the running to win the $18,000 Quintrex boat package on the final night.”
Ms Adams said all 18 finalists will win a prize with second prize being $3000 and third $1500.
Along with the random draw prizes there were awards for the best tailor, bream, whiting, dart and flathead in the beach fishing category.
In the reef fish category there are prizes for the best red emperor, snapper, parrot, pearl perch and sweetlip.
There is also a prize for the best jew fish and the best flathead caught and released.
